Swim Lesson Access

A growing directory of free and low-cost swimming lessons for infants and children.

Learning to swim shouldn’t depend on income. This directory is being built to help families find accessible, trusted swim programs—starting in the United States and expanding globally over time.

How the Directory Will Work

The long-term goal is a searchable list of free, subsidized, or sliding-scale swim programs with filters for location, age range, and program type.

By location

Zip code or state search

Families will be able to search for nearby programs offered by YMCAs, community pools, schools, nonprofits, and local instructors.

By age

Infants through teens

Program listings will include detailed age groups such as infant (6–12 months), toddler, preschool, and youth lessons.

By cost

Free or subsidized

Listings will highlight programs that offer zero-cost access, scholarships, bulk-discount rates, or community-funded lessons.

Types of Programs That Will Be Listed

The directory will include a wide range of trusted, accessible options—prioritizing programs that emphasize water safety, evidence-based instruction, and positive early experiences.

  • YMCA and community center swim lessons
  • City and county recreation department programs
  • Hospital or pediatric-sponsored safety classes
  • Nonprofit-funded or volunteer-driven swim schools
  • Independent instructors offering subsidized rates
All programs listed in the future directory will be vetted for alignment with FloatSwim’s safety and respect principles. Programs aimed at infants and toddlers will be reviewed with extra care.

Submit a Swim Program

If you are an instructor, nonprofit, or facility offering free or subsidized lessons, you’re welcome to submit your program for future inclusion. This helps build an equitable, accessible network for families.

  • Share your program name and general location.
  • Describe cost structure (free, sliding scale, scholarship-based).
  • Describe age groups served and instructor certifications.
  • Include website or contact information for verification.

FloatSwim will contact programs individually when the full directory structure is ready for listing.

Once infrastructure is in place, this section will feature a searchable map and filter interface so families can explore nearby lessons visually and intuitively.
